Full Time Openings
(2) Maintenance A (Maintenance): Will repair and maintain buildings, machinery, and electrical and mechanical equipment. Will use hand tools and power tools. Replaces defective electrical switches and other fixtures; paints structures, and repairs woodwork with carpenters’ tools as well as plumbing fixtures. Other duties and responsibilities as needed.
Warehouse/Driver (Warehouse): Will prepare products for shipment; count and compare quantity and identification numbers of units against order. Will assemble wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers; insert items into containers using spacers, fillers, and protective padding. Will unpack, count and verify content of shipment for correct quantity and visually inspect to determine the condition of the shipment received. Will prepare daily manifest of shipment received and/or shipped; keep record of parts stored, applies protective coating to parts stored. Must have a valid New York State Driver’s License. High school diploma or equivalent.
(2) Assembler B (Assembly): Performs one or more repetitive assembly operations. Positions parts in specified relations to each other, using hands, tweezers, or tongs, bolts, screws, clips cements, or otherwise fastens parts together by hand or using hand tools or portable powered tools. Works at bench as member of the assembly group assembling one or two specific parts and passing unit on to another worker. May be assigned to different work stations as production needs required. Applies brazing alloy in varied form to parts being assembled in preparation for furnace brazing. May use files, deburring tools, pliers, shears and other metal bending, cutting, and forming tools for fitting parts together prior to assembly. Uses tweezer welding and light spot welding equipment. Detail oriented. Ability to work well with their hands. High school diploma or equivalent. *Night shift.
Welder A (Welding): welds metal parts together, according to layouts, blueprints, or work orders, using both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes. Welder A preferably, will consider a Welder B.
Furnace Operator B (Furnace): Loads and unloads controlled atmospheric brazing and heat treating furnaces. Operates control equipment, pyrometers, vacuum controllers, and hydrogen drying equipment. Correlates work and process requirements using manual or automatic control equipment. Maintains log for furnace runs, shift production, Quality Control recordings, and maintenance schedules. Assures proper maintenance of equipment, furnace fixtures, hydrogen storage and supply, and all pressure, electric or electronic gages. High school diploma or equivalent required. Dependable and willingness to learn. Training will be provided.
Inspector A (Quality): At least three (3) years experience. Knows how to read blueprints; basic mathematics, such as addition of decimals and fractions required. Inspect parts with CMM, micrometers, calipers, height gages, and basic shop gages. Must be computer literate. Strong communication skills. Ability to lift 25 lbs. High school diploma or equivalent required.
Level III or Level II (Quality): Skill and knowledge to interpret codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control the NDT method(s) utilized by Kerns Manufacturing Corporation. Capable of assuming technical responsibility for the NDT facilities and staff. Capable of selecting the methods and technique for a specific inspection. Preparing and verifying the adequacy of procedures in the methods certified.
Approve NDT procedures and other NDT related work instructions for technical adequacy in the methods in which they are certified. Providing or directing training, examination, and certification of personnel in the methods in which they are certified.
Conduct NDT for the acceptance of parts only when a demonstration of proficiency in this capability was included in the practical examination. Ability to audit outside agencies to ensure the requirements of the written practice is met. High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferably. 5+ years experience a plus, NDT Personnel Certification and Qualification NAS410 preferred. Teamwork oriented.
Ability to adapt to changes. Self-starter. Ability to plan, organize and present classroom practical or on-the-job training in accordance with approved course outlines.
Receptionist (Administration): experience in data entry of highly detailed information, good phone manner (courteous and professional), answer incoming calls (moderate to heavy volume) and transfer and/or take messages as appropriate, order lunch, strong work ethic and ability to work independently. Customer service experience preferably. Excellent opportunity for someone who can multi-task and work in a fast paced environment. Must be computer literate, MS Word skills. HS diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferably.
Accountant (Accounting): at least 5 years of relevant experience in financial and cost Accounting. Responsibilities include preparing & analyzing financial statements. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required. Excellent opportunity for someone who can multi-task and work in a fast paced environment. Must be computer literate.
